Lee County School District to observe eLearning on Friday due to road conditions

Lee County School District will continue with eLearning on Friday, Aug. 9. All schools and office buildings will be closed, and all activities, including athletic events and fields trips, are canceled.
According to a statement from LCSD Superintendent Bernard McDaniel, "The results of a survey of bus routes in the county reveal that many roads are covered with water due to ditches overflowing. In an effort to ensure the safety of our students and staff, we will continue operating on an eLearning schedule on Friday, Aug. 9."'
All staff members are expected to be available during normal working hours on Friday. Updates will be sent via the automated telephone call system, district website, district Facebook page, social media and local media outlets.
Because Lee County School District is an approved eLearning district, these days will not have to be made up, and lessons and assignments will be posted in each teacher's virtual classroom. Students will complete eLearning assignments later if they are unable to participate due to power outages, lack of internet service or other barriers.
