Margaret Ann Smith Barker, 86, widow of Junior William “Bill” Barker, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024, at her home.
Born Dec. 20, 1937, in Sumter, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Ellsworth Smith and the late Jewel Francis King Smith. She was a 1956 graduate of Edmunds High School. She retired from Sumter School District 17 after 22 years as an administrative secretary. Her passion was baking, and she was an excellent cook. She looked forward to all holidays and celebrated big with her family. She will be remembered for her macaroni and cheese, all of her desserts, and the love she had for her family.
Survivors include a daughter, Ann Marie Lovett (Mike) of Sumter; grandchildren, Dylan Weidner, Kelsey Williamson, Stephanie Poole and Daniel Lovett (Nikki); great-grandchildren, Chaise Poole, Greyson Morales and Caleb Lovett.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ginger Lynn Williamson; a son, Michael Gene Moreland; and a brother, Johnny Smith.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, 2024, at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.
Her family would like to thank the entire Amedisys Hospice team with special thanks to Linda Squires and Cynthia Culler.
Private burial will be held at a later date.
