Ollie Mae Sharpe Meeks, 99, widow of Richard L. Meeks died Monday, Sept. 9, 2024, at her home.
Born in Eastover, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin B. Sharpe and Mae Belle McLain Sharpe.
Ollie was a devoted Christian and a 50-plus-year member of the First Assembly of God Church of Sumter.  Her beautiful life leaves a shining example for all who loved her; and she was loved by so many.
Ollie is survived by her children, Leonard Meeks of Sumter, Margie Meeks Gardner (Charles) of Manning, Donald Meeks (Gloria) of Adrian, Georgia, and Virginia Meeks Owen (Wayne) of Walla Walla, Washington; one nephew, Frank Hinson of St John's; two nieces, Evelyn Sharpe Chavis of Columbia, and Janie Mae McClain Allen of Charlotte, North Carolina; 15 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Tom Deckard.
She is predeceased by two daughters, Annie Mae Meeks Roberts and her husband, Wayne, and Beverly Jewel Meeks Deckard; one grandchild, Richard Owen, and one great-grandchild, Rachel Hutchinson.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, 2024, in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with Pastor Phil Simun officiating.
Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, 2024, at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Assembly of God Church or to a charity of one’s choice.
