GEORGE MARION REARDON

George Marion Reardon, 87, widower of Hilde Gerner Reardon, died on Monday, Dec. 11, 2023, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

Born in Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Norward A. Reardon Sr. and Elizabeth Mahoney Reardon. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and sang in the choir. Mr. Reardon was a U.S. Army veteran and member of American Legion Post No. 15. He retired from South Carolina DHEC after nearly 40 years of service. He was an avid golfer, and his greatest joy was spending time with his family.

Survivors include a son, David Reardon of Sumter; grandsons, Christopher (Diane) Reardon, Andrew Reardon and Alex Reardon; two great-grandsons, Cadence Reardon and Finn Reardon; two brothers, Perry Reardon and James L. Reardon, both of Moncks Corner; a sister, Betty R. Poulos of Chapin; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheila Reardon, and a brother, Norward A. Reardon Sr.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Steve Williams officiating.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. on Friday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.
