DORIS CAROL STEVENS NESBITT

Doris Carol Stevens Nesbitt, 75, wife of Charles R. Nesbitt, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2024, at Prisma Health Tuomey.
Born Feb. 23, 1949, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Alvin C. Stevens and Vivian Slemmer Stevens. She retired from Auto Electric in Sumter. In her youth, she attended Sumter First Pentecostal Holiness Church and later attended Paxville Baptist Church. Her greatest accomplishment was her marriage of 54 years and caring for her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Christopher S. Nesbitt (Susan) of Sumter; two grandchildren that were her pride and joy, Elizabeth Nesbitt and C.J. Nesbitt; brothers, Cecil Stevens of Conway and Mike Stevens (Tina) of Sumter; sisters, Diane Bochette and Julie Murray (Johnny), both of Sumter, and Sandy Couillard (James), Rita Hammond (Bobby) and Wendy Abbott (Randy), all of Columbia.

She was preceded in death by a son, Charles R. “Chuck” Nesbitt.

A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery officiated by the Rev. Jim Johnson.

The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside and other times at the home of Christopher and Susan Nesbitt.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of NHC Healthcare and especially to caregivers Pearlene, LeeLee and Irish for their loving care and compassion.
