Almeda Salyers Kirby, 84, widow of Olea Elliot Kirby, died Friday, July 19, 2024, at the home of her daughter surrounded by family.
Born June 1, 1940, in Tazewell, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Richard Willis Salyers and the late Virgie Mae Salyers.  She was a member of Sumter Freewill Baptist Church of the Pentecostal Faith. Mrs. Kirby retired after 23 years with Bosch.
Survivors include four children, Patricia K. Nielsen (Vic) of Sumter, Gail Scarborough (Greg) of Sumter, Guy W. Kirby (Lora) of Dalzell and David E. Kirby (Tina) of Sumter; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Judith Wilkes of Sylva, North Carolina, Sandra Salyers of Lexington, Barbara Brown of Myrtle Beach and Jeniffer Valero of Myrtle Beach.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Ricky Kirby and Harry Kirby; and two brothers, Jerry Salyers and Lonnie Salyers.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2024, in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Clyde Chan and the Rev. Rhonda Bowman officiating.  Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 22, 2024, at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of Gail and Greg Scarborough, 1735 Broome St.
