Coroner: Sumter man dies of apparent gunshot wound Saturday afternoon, suspect in custody

A Sumter man was pronounced dead after an apparent shooting on Saturday afternoon in the county, according to  a news release from Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker.

On Saturday, April 25, Bryan Dargan, 36, Sumter County died on the scene from an apparent gunshot wound. Sumter County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the scene of the reported shooting and attempted to provide immediate aid. 

The incident occurred approximately 4 p.m. at 1007 Collins St. An autopsy will be performed on Monday at The Medical University in Charleston.

A person of interest is in custody, according to Sumter County Sheriff's Office. More information will be released as the investigation progresses. 

Sumter County Coroner's office and Sumter County Sheriff Office are investigating.

Next of kin has been notified.
