1 charged with murder after domestic dispute leads to fatal stabbing

The mugshot of a Sumter woman arrested in connection to a fatal stabbing has been released.
 
Deputies with Sumter County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a domestic dispute at about 6 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4, along Bell Road. 
 
Once there, deputies learned that Akasha Tamia Jones, 26, of Sumter, allegedly stabbed the victim to death during a physical altercation in which alcohol was involved, according to Mark Bordeaux, public information officer for the sheriff's office. 
 
The identity of the victim is being withheld until next of kin has been notified. 
 
Jones was charged with murder and possession of a weapon of a violent crime, Bordeaux said. She was taken to Sumter County Sheriff's Office Detention Center where she has been booked. 
 
An investigation is ongoing and more information will be released as it becomes available.
