Clarendon County School District announces eLearning for Monday, Feb. 2

Before last night’s snowfall from Winter Storm Gianna, the Clarendon County School District announced they will shift to eLearning for Monday, Feb. 2. They described eLearning’s purpose as intended to “keep everyone safe during times when in-person learning is not feasible - i.e. inclement weather, power outages, water main breaks, etc.”
They encouraged students to check their Google Classroom for assignments and families to review the eLearning expectations, including attendance, communication with teachers, participation and assignment completion – such as the requirement students submit their work by 11:59 p.m. to be marked present for the day.
“Thank you for your understanding and support as we prioritize the safety and education of our students and staff!” Clarendon County School District said in their Facebook post.
There is e-learning Monday in Lee County School District and Sumter School District, as well. “An eLearning day is used on the specific day that schools would otherwise have had to close due to an unforeseen emergency or when a make-up day would normally be used,” outlines the South Carolina Department of Education’s eLearning Days District Handbook, which also allots each eLearning district up to five eLearning days. “eLearning days are designed to offer more flexibility to avoid loss of instruction due to school closings or to manage necessary make-up days that are already included in the school calendar.”
