WILLIAM PEARSON

William Pearson, of Sumter, was born Nov. 14, 1954, in Lee County. William departed his earthly life on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2024, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital in Sumter. William was the son of the late Leroy Pearson and Lula Mae Pearson.

William was educated in the public schools of Lee County, where he graduated from Ashwood Central High School with the Class of 1973. Shortly after, William attended and graduated from Morris College with his bachelor of arts degree, summa cum laude. He was a dedicated employee for 30 years at the Department of Transportation, Florence.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024, at Mt. Olive AME Church, 2738 Woodrow Road, Woodrow, with the Rev. Dr. R. L. Brown, pastor, the Rev. Raymond Cook, officiating.

Interment will follow in the Mt. Olive Memorial Garden, Woodrow.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 8 p.m. at his home, 3047 Woodrow Road, Sumter, and at the home of his brother, 245 Planters Drive, Sumter.
