Summerton man arrested on more than a dozen drug charges after fleeing on golf cart and then on foot

SUMMERTON – A Summerton man was arrested on Tuesday, July 2, on more than a dozen drug charges. He was released a day later on a $42,500 personal recognizance bond.

Jacquba Turner Green, 44 , was taken into custody by the Clarendon County Combined Narcotics Unit that is comprised of agents from the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office and the Manning Police Department after a brief chase in the Summerton area.

On July 2, CCCNU agents, who knew that Green had an arrest warrant, spotted Green driving a camouflaged golf cart on Washington Street, and they initiated a traffic stop. Agents reported that Green began to flee on the golf cart and then on foot. Agents were able to apprehend Green and reported recovering “a quantity of suspected cocaine along with U.S. currency at the scene.”

Agents then executed a search warrant at Green’s residence on Louis Street, where they reported recovering “a quantity of suspected marijuana, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, morphine tablets and a total of $22,544 in U.S. currency.”

Green was charged with three counts of distribution of crack cocaine third offense, three counts of distribution of crack cocaine within 1/2 mile of a school or park, one count of possession to distribute crack cocaine third offense, one count of PWID crack cocaine within 1/2-mile of a school or park, one count of PWID cocaine third offense, one count of PWID cocaine within 1/2-mile of a school or park, one count of PWID marijuana second office, one count of PWID marijuana within 1/2-mile of a school or park, one count of PWID morphine third offense, one count of PWID morphine within 1/2-mile of a school or park, and one count of failure to stop for blue lights.
