Isaiah Williams

Isaiah Williams, husband of Elizabeth Brand Williams, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born in Sumter County, he was a son of the late Sam Woods and Janie Plowden Williams and was reared by his adoptive mother, Christina Williams. He was first employed by Gene Foster Plywood Mills, Williams Furniture Plant and later by Sumter Builders, formerly Boyle Machinery, until his retirement. He was a faithful member of Beulah AME Church, where he served on the board of trustees and Sons of Allen and the Lay organization.

Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Brand Williams; four sons, Isaac (Lillian) Williams, Charles (Martha) Williams and Bud (Andrew) Williams, all of Sumter, and Eddie (Torah) Williams of Bellflower, Calif.; four daughters, Barbara (McKenley) Muldrow, Jennie (Earl) Seymore and Connie (Renault) Davis, all of Sumter; and Peggy (Samuel) Dingle of Long Beach, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Beulah AME Church with the Rev. William Bruce officiating. Interment will follow in the Beulah Church cemetery.

Mr. Williams will be placed in the church for public viewing at 1 p.m. Wednesday until the hour of service. The public may also view from 9 to 11 a.m. today at Palmer Memorial Chapel, 304 S. Main St.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 475 Mims Road, from which the funeral procession will depart at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
