MANNING - The American Red Cross has declared a national blood crisis and is asking donors to help replenish its blood supply.

The ARC said that blood donations are down 10 percent since the start of the COVID pandemic, and they are experiencing the lowest supply of blood in more than a decade.

Historic Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, 105 Dinkins St., is hosting an ARC blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. March 6 in its fellowship hall that's located directly behind the church.

Darreyl and Margaret Walker are members of Ebenezer and participate in several blood drives that their church hosts each year.

"Please come out and give the gift of life," Darreyl stressed. "Blood supplies are at an all-time low, and anyone who can donate is strongly encouraged to do so."

To register, log onto www.redcrossblood.org and enter the sponsor code: EbenezerManning.

Individuals who donate blood during March will receive a Fanatics e-gift card and have a chance to win a trip to the Major League Baseball All-Star Game.

All donors will also receive a $10 Amazon gift card.
