Doctors' Day celebrated at McLeod Health Clarendon

MANNING - Doctors' Day is a time to celebrate and acknowledge the vital role of physicians whose calling is to protect our health and well-being. The day was first observed in 1933 and was officially made a national day of celebration by President George H.W. Bush in 1991. It is a time to celebrate the contributions of physicians who serve our country by caring for our citizens.

McLeod Health was founded by Dr. F.H. McLeod in 1906; being physician-led is both our heritage and a continuing touchstone of who we are. Throughout our McLeod Health system, more than 900 world-class physicians provide extraordinary medical care from the Midlands to the coast.

"Our physicians are invaluable, and it's so important to take a moment to pause and honor the work they do," said Rachel Gainey, McLeod Health Clarendon chief executive officer. "Doctors' Day gives us a special, dedicated time to thank them for their devotion to the health and wellness of our local community and acknowledge their years of sacrifice and training in the pursuit to serve others."

McLeod Health celebrated its physicians for National Doctors' Day on Thursday. Events were held at McLeod Regional Medical Center, McLeod Health Dillon, McLeod Health Cheraw, McLeod Health Clarendon, McLeod Health Loris, McLeod Health Seacoast and McLeod Health Carolina Forest.
