Woman charged with attempted murder after disagreement in Sumter turns violent

A domestic disagreement turned physical during the weekend, resulting in one person being shot.

Shortly after midnight Sunday, June 14, Sumter County Sheriff’s Office deputies received a report of a shooting incident at an apartment complex on Highway 261 South. Upon arrival, deputies found the victim, who was transported to Prisma Health Tuomey by Emergency Medical Services.

The suspect, Shannon Patrice Royal, was taken into custody and charged with attempted murder.

Royal was transported to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center. Her bond was denied, and she remains in custody.
