Sumter police investigate fatal pedestrian vs. vehicle wreck on Wedgefield Road 

Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker released the identity of the woman fatally struck by a vehicle on Saturday, Oct. 10.

Whittni Milhorn, 38, of Sumter, was pronounced dead at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital after being struck by a vehicle as a pedestrian, Baker said.

The incident occurred on West Liberty Street and Wedgefield Road at about 9:11 p.m. on Saturday.

Next of kin has been notified, and an autopsy is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 12, at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

An investigation is ongoing by Sumter Police Department and Sumter County Coroner’s Office.
