Military veterans will soon have access to more food at Hidden Wounds, thanks to a Sumter Board of Realtors campaign and an Advantage Realty Group fundraiser.

Hidden Wounds, a local nonprofit at 21 S. Washington St., runs, among other things, a food pantry that needs ongoing donations. This marks the second year the SBOR campaign has helped Hidden Wounds.

Advantage Realty Group, Sumter's largest independent real estate brokerage and a three-time Best of Sumter winner, supported the drive with a 50/50 fundraiser. In less than two weeks, the campaign raised $8,024, exceeding its $5,000 goal.

"The Sumter community generously supported this effort, and we thank the hundreds of donors who made it a success," said TJ Green, an Advantage Realtor who led the agency's campaign. "The real winners are the veterans who need food."

Dr. Lance Newman, Hidden Wounds executive director, said the donation shows "what community looks like" when organizations step up to help. He added that Hidden Wounds continues to welcome food donations.
