Put on your costume and grab your trick-or-treat bag for the Sumter Habitat Fall-O-Ween Trunk or Treat from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Sumter Habitat Restore Parking lot, 812 S. Guignard Drive. There will be games, tons of Halloween fun and all sorts of treats from the creatively decorated trunks. All ages welcome. Kreepy Hollow Haunted House is back and scarier than ever. Frights include a two-story haunted house, two-mile hayride journey through the swamps of Lucknow Bottom, Zombie Breakout and an even creepier Kreeper's Bus ride. Scream Acres Haunted House and Hayride, 1137 Old Camden Road, Bishopville, is sure to scare you with its original haunted house built in the early 1880s. If you are able to make your way through the first house, jump on board one of the custom-made trailers for a bone-chilling two-mile-long hayride through the woods of terror with plenty of stops along the way. Don't get too comfortable because you will be abandoned in the swamp to walk your way to the second haunted house. If you are able to make it through, you will reboard the trailer and finish your tour on the haunted trail. A souvenir shop and food truck will be available. Christ Community Church invites the Sumter community to its Fall Fest in The Grove from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, at 320 Loring Mill Road. Join the church for a free event of games, food trucks, candy, fun and much more.

Trick or Treat in the Backcountry will be held Saturday, Oct. 26, from 5-7 p.m. at the Carolina Backcountry Homestead, located behind the Sumter County Museum, 122 N. Washington St. The event is free and open to the public.

Several local churches are coming together to show God's love through The Church Community Fall Festival from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at Pisgah Baptist Church, 8295 Black River Road, Rembert. The free festival is open to the public and will include trunk or treat, games, cake walk, hayride, bouncy slide, photo corner, face painting, balloons, a petting zoo and more. And you won't go hungry with corndogs, elephant ears and popcorn. Participating churches include Pisgah Baptist, Pine Grove AME, Union Baptist, Mount Olivet, St. Matthews United Methodist, New Hope Baptist, Second Chance Fellowship, Red Hill Baptist, Springhill United Methodist, St. Johns, McLeod's Chapel, Beulah Christian and Mount Zion. Local fire departments, sheriff's departments, Gideons International, SCDNR will participate. Special guests will be Brant Tomlinson and Carlton Washington. Join Alice Drive Baptist Church's Family Fall Festival from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at three different locations: Loring Mill campus grounds, 1305 Loring Mill Road, Sumter; Pocalla campus grounds, 65 Masters Drive, Sumter; and Chappell Park, 397 Chappell Drive, Bishopville. Festivities include a Treat Street, bounce house and more. The event is held outdoors and is free.

Crosswell Baptist Church is inviting the public for free games, food and fun at its Fall Fest from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, 170 Poinsett Drive, Sumter. Trunk or Treat will follow at 7 p.m.

Don't miss the bounce houses, face painting, games and trunk or treat at Grace Baptist Church's Fall Festival 2024 from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, at the church, 219 W. Calhoun St., Sumter.

Children of all ages (with guardians of course) are welcome to attend the free Trunk or Treat at Sumter East Health and Rehabilitation Center Parking Lot, 975 Miller Road, Sumter, on Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 3-6 p.m.

Sumterites across the county are invited to the Rembert Youth Center's Annual Octoberfest and Open House, happening Saturday, Oct. 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 20 Horatio-Hagood Road in Rembert. Children, parents, schools, community leaders and more are invited to attend and enjoy music, food, arts and crafts, a kid zone and much more, all with opportunity to sign up for afterschool childcare.
