MOTHER QUEENIE BELL BRUNSON JAMES

Posted

Mother Queenie Bell Brunson James, affectionately called Queen, was born in Lee County on May 15, 1933, to the late Haskel and Hattie Gregg Brunson. She attended the public schools of Lee County.
As a young child, she began her spiritual journey at Unionville AME in St. Charles with her parents and siblings. Queenie joined the St. Paul Pentecostal Holiness Church of Sumter under the leadership of the late Elder Mark Pierson in 1978. She served the church faithfully under the leadership of Elder Mark Pierson, Pastor Shirley Holliday and currently, Elder Barrington Pierson, until she was called from labor to reward.
She was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Mr. Willie James and to this union four children, Leroy, Leverne, Pamalia and Dennis were reared in their lovely home. She never met a stranger. If you were ever in her presence, she enjoyed talking and laughing and talking about the goodness of the Lord. Queenie was a jewel to the Body of Christ. She leaves to cherish in loving memories: her four children, Leroy (Simone) James of Clarksville, Tennessee, Leverne Brunson, Pamalia James and Dennis Brunson, all of Sumter; three grandchildren, Brett Bryant, Jazzlyn James and Gregory James, all from Clarksville, Tennessee; one great-grandson, Carter Guzman of Clarksville, Tennessee; two sisters, Hattie Nance of Sumter, and Gardenia Benjamin of Washington, D.C.; two brothers, Harry Lee Brunson and Albert Lee Brunson, all of Sumter; a special church friend, Minister Mattie Linton; honorary nieces and nephews, the Washington siblings (children of the late Brother Lindsay and the late Mother Geneva Washington) and a special honorary niece, Tyesha Vaughn; and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by: one daughter, Laura Ann Brunson; two sisters, Leatha Brunson and Marie Brunson; and five brothers, Jim Brunson, Jessie Brunson, Haskel Brunson Jr., Norwood Brunson and Robert Brunson; a special sister-in-law and friend, Sister Mary Louise Brunson; and a special friend, Mother Geneva Washington.
