Lisa Marie Dinger Dinkins, 49, formerly of Southampton, Mass., passed away on Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, after a three year battle with cancer.

Born Sept. 22, 1963, she was a daughter of Mary Ann Parrow Dinger and the late William L. Dinger of South Carolina.

She leaves behind the love of her life, her husband, William “Bill” Dinkins III; her daughter, Taylor Ann; and her son, William “Cody,” all of Sumter. Lisa will be greatly missed by her mother; her sister, Laura Dinger Brzys and husband, Joseph, of Southampton; and her brother, William “Hum” Dinger Jr. and Pam Mirabella of Pomaria. She also leaves behind her niece, Sandra Dinger of Germany; a nephew, Jason Brzys; her niece and godchild, Brandi Brzys; and niece, Kaliska “Kay” Schmauder. She also leaves her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Will and Joan Dinkins of Rosman, N.C.; a brother-in-law, Ken Dinkins; aunts, uncles, many cousins, and lots of friends, along with Dixie, her dog.

Lisa attended Southampton schools and graduated from Hampshire Regional High School in 1981. She graduated from Holyoke Community College with an associate degree in computer science in 1986 and from Westfield State in 1988 with a bachelor degree. She was employed with Stop & Shop for 14 years. She proudly served in the Air National Guard for 30 years. Lisa moved to South Carolina in 1994 and married in 1996. She worked in several companies such as Lowes, Web-Don, Yuasa and Evans Trailers, until finding her niche as a CAD at McEntire Air National Guard Base, where all there became Lisa’s second family.

Funeral services with military honors will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. David Dinkins and Chaplain Brian Bohlman officiating. Burial will be in the Dinkins Mill Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.
