Irene C. Ward, 72, wife of Shuford T. “Tommy” Ward, died Thursday, July 25, 2024, at her home.
Born Oct. 17, 1951, in Bronx, New York, she was a daughter of the late Robert T. Mahon and Helen L. DuCom Mahon. She was of the Catholic faith. She retired after more than 30 years as a hospice nurse. Irene loved her puppies and spending time with her grandchildren. She also loved living on her family property and enjoyed spending time in nature.
Survivors include her husband; three children, John Paul Bell (Heather), Julia M. Cella (Michael) and Tara Anne Draper (Kerry); grandchildren, Jacqulyn Kramer (Tyler), Kala Draper (Ricky Windham), Jasper Draper, Sophie Irene Bell, Anthony Cella, Nick Brennan (Diane), Elizabeth Douglas (Christopher), Grace Bubniak and Hannah Bubniak; great-grandchildren, Ryleigh, Kinsleigh, David, Kennedy and Dean; a sister, Julia Marie Pratt (Sam); and a sister-in-law, Carol Mahon.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Mahon.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024, in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with Fr. Ronie Lorcha, CRM officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024, at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.
