Why is it the art commission doesn't hire Sumter artists to paint murals?
Instead they hire artists outside of Sumter. I don't think it's fair. But they will hire Grainger McKoy to do artwork.
Freddie Bennett painted a mural at Summerton High School. Walter McNeil did a 6-foot-by-12-foot painting at the VFW in Manning.
Freddie and Walter's paintings look better than that painting in the alley at the Item. Support your local artists.
