Jackie “Jack” Dale Rearden, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, at Lexington Medical Center.

Born on July 30, 1947, in Holden, Missouri, to Tom and Mary Rearden, Jack lived a life marked by dedication, service and an unwavering love for his family.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Janice M. Rearden; his son, Shawn Rearden of Gastonia, North Carolina; and his daughter, Shannon Angone of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was a proud grandfather to Kelsey (Scott) Mahaffey, Colby Rearden, Brynn Rearden, Dr. Serena (Lance) Angone and Anthony Angone. His two great-grandchildren, Luke Leo and Delilah Rose, brought him immeasurable joy and added a special sweetness to his life. He is also survived by his brother, Tommy (Katherine) Rearden of Shreveport, Louisiana, along with many beloved nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Mary Rearden, and his brothers, Jim and Dennis Rearden.
Following his high school graduation, Jack proudly joined the United States Air Force, where he served for four years. His commitment to serving others continued throughout his career in law enforcement, as he served as a lieutenant with Sumter County Sheriff’s Office for 24 years. Through his dedication to protecting and serving his community, Jack made a lasting impact on those around him. After retiring from law enforcement, Jack continued to share his passion for football as an assistant coach at Furman Middle School. Coaching allowed him to remain connected to the game he loved while encouraging and inspiring young athletes. Away from work and football, Jack enjoyed spending time outdoors working in his yard, taking trips to the mountains and working on his beloved puzzle collection. A diehard Kansas City Chiefs fan, he never missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite team. Above all else, Jack treasured his family. The time he spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family was among his greatest blessings. Whether working in the yard, enjoying a mountain getaway, coaching football, piecing together a puzzle or cheering for the Chiefs, Jack found happiness in life’s simple pleasures and in the company of those he loved. Jack will be remembered for his years of faithful service, his dedication to his community, his love of football, and, most importantly, the deep love he had for his family. Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of those who knew and loved him, his legacy will live on through the many lives he touched and the memories he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by his family and friends.
