Henry Lee “Hank” McKinney Jr., 73, husband of Karen Rogers McKinney, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2024, at his home.
Born July 22, 1951, in Cheverly, Maryland, he was a son of the late Henry Lee McKinney Sr. and Dolores Marie McNey McKinney. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from BD, where he was an electrician.
Survivors in addition to his wife include three children, Henry Lee McKinney III (Teresa), Angie McKinney Yates (Matthew) and Randy Rogers; six grandchildren, Ginger Brotherton, Emily Rogers, Breelan McKinney, Mattison Yates, Carlee Hill and Naomi McKinney; two great-grandchildren, Winter Ivey and Sophia Hill; a number of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; five sisters, Lee Baran, Linda O’Reilly (Pat), Cindy McKinney, Michelle Welch (Ronnie) and Faith Hartle (Craig); and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024, at Freedom Worship Freewill Baptist Church, 1490 Florence Hwy., Sumter.
The family would like to express a special thanks to his granddaughter, Breelan, for the devoted, loving care she gave over the past five years.
Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
