A woman struck by an umbrella while dining died from her injuries, according to Clarendon County Coroner Jacqueline Blackwell.

On Saturday, May 23, Clarendon County dispatch received a report of a laceration around 7:40 p.m. at 5321 Dingle Pond Road in Summerton.

Upon arrival, first responders found a female unresponsive with a laceration to her head and neck area. Despite attempts by EMS to revive her, she was pronounced dead on scene.

The victim was identified as 56-year-old Dana Weinger, of Huger, according to Blackwell.

Weinger and her husband were dining at a local restaurant when a strong wind blew an umbrella from a table, which struck Weinger in the head and neck area, Blackwell said, causing the fatal laceration.
