Letter to the editor: Thank you to all for support as family mourns passing of daughter

Posted

Our entire family extends immense appreciation and gratitude to the magnificent Sumter community and surrounding areas for the outpouring of condolences and prayers for us as we mourn the passing of our daughter, Ms. Shani Nzinga Williams Thompson.

Special appreciation is also extended to the Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital's emergency physicians and staff and to the Intensive Care Unit Staff, ancillary services and Chaplain Services, as well as to the Prisma Health Richland Medical Intensive Care Unit staff and ancillary services, the Williams Funeral Home's director and staff and to the Copy Shop Printing Services of Sumter, South Carolina.

The generous and very kind contributions made to our family's 501(c)(3), nonprofit, charitable organization, The Family Unit Inc., in Shani's memory are greatly appreciated and will go far in helping us to provide more services to those in the City of Sumter and Sumter County, South Carolina, who live in poverty and despair.

Exuberance and love of life describe Shani's driving and life forces. She was resolute in regard to speaking out and standing up for right over wrong.

Shani absolutely loved the nursing profession, ever since she was in high school, and worked to take care of patients with whom she had contact, no matter what.

As Shani would always say: "One thing for sure and two for certain" she will do her very best striving to be the best at what she did for her family and for her patients!

We praise God from whom all blessings flow.

Shani surely was God's gift to us ... one that we will forever cherish and love. "That's one thing for sure and two for certain!"
