Suspect in Sumter armed robbery in custody

Sumter police officers have an armed robbery suspect in custody.

The 27-year-old Sumter man, Anthony “SweetPea” Pringle, of 134 Carolina Ave., was being sought for reportedly breaking into a residence in the 300 block of Highland Avenue about 5 a.m. on Oct. 15 with another man, states a news release from the department.

Pringle is also accused of assaulting the male and female residents before leaving with an undetermined amount of money.

The residents, both 32, sustained injuries and were treated and released from Palmetto Health Tuomey.

Detectives also are working to identify the second man, who was wearing a red hoodie and a shirt over his face at the time of the break-in.
