Sumter woman arrested after man injured in shooting early Sunday

A Sumter woman was arrested by sheriff's deputies after a man was shot early Sunday.

Iszarah Rockingham-Barnett, 22, of West Avenue South in Pinewood, was arrested Sunday pursuant to a warrant after deputies responded to the Ballpark Road, Pinewood, area about 1 a.m. Sunday and found a man with a serious gunshot wound, according to a news release from Sumter County Sheriff's Office.

Sumter County Dispatch had been called about the incident, but the caller hung up without speaking.

The victim, who identified Rockingham-Barnett as responsible for the shooting, was airlifted to Prisma Health Richland, where he is in stable condition, according to the release.

Rockingham-Barnett was denied bond and is at Sumter County Sheriff's Office Detention Center.

Sumter deputies are investigating, and more information might be released as it is available.
