Update: The power has been restored.
Traffic signals are being affected throughout the City of Sumter due to a power outage.
The reason for the outage is currently unknown, according to Tonyia McGirt, public information officer for the Sumter Police Department.
If you are driving or walking in areas where traffic signals are out, McGirt asked everyone to use extra caution and treat these intersections as a four-way stop. If an officer is directing traffic at these intersections, please follow their instructions.
