A Sumter man was charged on Friday, Nov. 6, after a domestic dispute turned violent.
Sumter County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence on U.S. 15 after reports of a domestic incident.
Deputies arrested Aaron James Calcutt, 36, and charged him with first-degree domestic violence and possession of a firearm by a felon, according to Mark Bordeaux, public information officer for the sheriff’s office.
Calcutt allegedly physically assaulted a victim and then fired a gun “near them,” Bordeaux said.
Calcutt was taken to Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center, where he remains in custody.
