SCETV+ launches Oct. 10, bringing local and national programming together in one South Carolina streaming experience

COLUMBIA – South Carolina ETV and Public Radio (SCETV) will launch SCETV+ on Oct. 10, giving audiences a new way to discover and stream SCETV programs, including national content from some of public media’s leading distributors, such as PBS, the National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA) and American Public Television (APT), alongside local South Carolina-focused stories in one personalized, curated experience.

Developed in partnership with Local Public, SCETV+ is designed to make it easier for audiences to find the programming and services they value most, whether watching at home or on the go. The platform features SCETV original productions, public affairs programming, educational and cultural content, curated collections and national programming from public media distributors.

Livestreamed channels give audiences access to SCETV’s network of broadcast channels including ETV, ETV World and SCETV PBS Kids at any time, along with national public media channels including Create and NHK World. Audiences can watch programming live or explore additional on-demand content within the same streaming experience.

SCETV+ is available on a variety of devices, including iOS and Android, Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Chromecast and VIZIO. To find SCETV+, audiences can search for SCETV+ in their device’s app store or platform marketplace.

SCETV+ is free to use with a no-cost PBS account, which does not require a donation or paid subscription. Users will be prompted to create an account when they open SCETV+. Signing in with a free PBS account provides viewing features, including My List, watch history and the ability to resume videos in progress, as well as access to viewing information across supported devices. For ETV Endowment members, the platform also offers an expanded catalog of programming through SCETV Passport. In addition to SCETV Passport, ETV Endowment members will have access to the full catalog of SCETV+ offerings as part of their membership.

SCETV+ is designed to be a connected viewing experience, allowing audiences to move between supported devices as they watch. For example, viewers can begin watching a program on a phone while logged in and continue watching on a connected television without having to start over.

The launch expands SCETV’s streaming presence while complementing existing ways audiences can access SCETV and PBS programming. While the PBS App will continue to be available and updated with local SCETV content, SCETV+ provides a new destination specifically curated for SCETV audiences, making local programs, series and collections easier to discover while bringing national public media programming together in one experience.

SCETV+ also provides audiences with a new way to follow State House Today, SCETV’s coverage of the South Carolina State House during legislative session. Viewers can watch episodes on demand through SCETV+ and stream the program live as it airs, providing convenient access to state government and public affairs coverage.

SCETV+ will continue to evolve as SCETV expands its streaming offerings and develops new ways for audiences to engage with local content.

SCETV+ is powered by Local Public, a public media-led streaming initiative developed by Cascade PBS to help stations create locally-branded streaming experiences. SCETV joins a growing group of public media organizations using the platform to expand local streaming and connect audiences with programming across devices.
