SCDOT to close, detour portion of U.S. 521 for repairs near Rembert in Sumter County 

Columbia - South Carolina Department of Transportation will close and detour a portion U.S. 521 near Rembert in Sumter County beginning Thursday, Oct. 15. 

The closure will be between Ellerbe Mill Road (S-43-460) and TB Wright Road (S-43-109) and will begin overnight Thursday, Oct. 15, and end overnight Sunday, Oct. 18. 

A signed detour is in place, and a map can be found attached. Drivers are advised to take Horatio-Hagood Road (S-43-37) to S.C. 261, then to TB Wright Road (S-43-109) to get back to U.S. 521. 

The closure is needed to replace four 42-inch crossline pipes along U.S. 521. 

SCDOT asks that drivers slow down and pay attention when driving near the work zone.
