New GMC facility will join Jones Chevrolet to create 1 large automotive campus

After 60 years of living, working and doing business in Sumter, the Jones family is making one of its most significant investments yet in the community it calls home. Jones is investing millions of dollars in Sumter with the construction of an all-new GMC dealership next to the existing Jones Chevrolet dealership, bringing the two operations together to create one large Jones Chevrolet GMC automotive campus.

Scheduled to come together by the end of 2026, the new campus represents much more than a new building. It reflects the Jones family's continued commitment to the future of Sumter, Jones customers and the generations that will follow. The expansion comes as the Jones family celebrates its 60th anniversary of serving Sumter, a history that began in 1966.

"Sumter has supported our family and our dealerships for 60 years, and we believe in investing right back into the community that has invested in us," said Robert Jones, one of the owners. "Building this new GMC dealership and bringing Chevrolet and GMC together on one campus is a major investment, but more importantly, it is a statement about our future. We're here, we're growing, and we plan to serve Sumter for generations to come."

The new GMC dealership is being constructed adjacent to Jones Chevrolet, transforming the property into a larger, unified automotive destination. Once complete, customers will be able to shop Chevrolet, GMC and an extensive selection of pre-owned vehicles in one convenient location.

The project represents a substantial investment by the Jones family in the local community and will provide a modern new home for Jones GMC while allowing both dealerships to operate together as one campus. Thompson Turner Construction and Peter Tindal, the site superintendent, have been amazing to work with and completed the project right on schedule, the Jones family said. "It is a great feeling to work with our customers as they help us achieve this vision like Bank of Clarendon and all the local subcontractors that helped make this project a success."

For customers, the benefits will be immediate: more vehicles, more choices and greater convenience. Instead of Chevrolet and GMC operating from separate dealership locations, customers will be able to explore both brands, and a much larger combined pre-owned inventory, at one destination.

The new campus also reflects the Jones family's confidence in Sumter and its commitment to remaining part of the community for decades to come.

The all-new GMC dealership will provide a modern new home for a brand known for combining capability, technology and refinement. Customers can explore GMC trucks and SUVs, including the Sierra 1500, Sierra HD, Canyon, Terrain, Acadia and Yukon, as well as GMC's growing selection of electric vehicles.

And with GMC located directly alongside Jones Chevrolet, customers will have the added convenience of comparing an even broader selection of vehicles without traveling between dealership locations.

Next door, Jones Chevrolet will continue offering Chevrolet's broad selection of trucks and SUVs.

Together, Chevrolet and GMC will give customers access to an extensive range of vehicles on one Jones automotive campus, all backed by the same family and customer-focused approach Sumter has known for six decades.

The combined campus will also make shopping for a quality pre-owned vehicle more convenient. Jones Chevrolet GMC will offer a large selection of handpicked pre-owned cars, trucks and SUVs, with the combined inventory conveniently available at one automotive destination.

The timing of the new Jones Chevrolet GMC campus carries special meaning for the Jones family. 2026 marks 60 years since the family began serving Sumter in 1966. The dealership is commemorating that milestone with a message that connects its history with its future: "Serving Sumter since 1966 and for generations to come."

"We're incredibly proud of the 60 years behind us, but we're just as excited about the 60 years ahead," said Robert Jones. "Our family has grown up alongside this community, and we want the next generation, and the generations after them, to know that Jones will still be here, continuing to invest in Sumter and continuing to take care of our customers."
