Kappa Alpha Psi hosts Back-to-School Bash, equips more than 150 Sumter students for success

On Saturday, July 25, the Bishopville-Manning-Shaw Air Force Base (S.C.) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., in partnership with the Lambda Epsilon Chapter, Kappa League and the chapter's Silhouettes, hosted its annual Back-to-School Bash at the Birnie HOPE Center, 210 S. Purdy St., Sumter.

The event brought together fraternity brothers, Silhouettes, Kappa League participants, volunteers, community partners and supporters with a shared commitment to preparing local students for a successful academic year. Through the generosity of those involved, more than 150 students received backpacks filled with essential school supplies to help them begin the school year equipped and ready to learn.

The Back-to-School Bash reflects Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.'s enduring commitment to community service, youth development, scholarship and achievement. In addition to providing school supplies, the event served as an opportunity to encourage students, strengthen families and foster partnerships that positively impact the Sumter community.

"We are incredibly grateful to our brothers, Silhouettes, volunteers, sponsors, community partners and everyone who supported this initiative," chapter members said. "Because of your generosity, more than 150 students will begin the school year with the supplies they need and the encouragement to strive for excellence. Together, we continue to make a difference through service."

The Bishopville-Manning-Shaw Air Force Base Alumni Chapter also recognized the dedication of the Lambda Epsilon Chapter, Kappa League and the Silhouettes, whose collective efforts helped make the event a success.
