HARRIET JEAN DUBOSE SAWYER

Harriet Jean DuBose Sawyer, age 77, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024, at Jefferson Bucks Hospital. She was a long-time resident of Fallsington, Pennsylvania.

Jean was born in Sumter, South Carolina, to Daniel Theodore DuBose Jr. and Addie Mae Brunson. She graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1965 and continued her education, graduating from Sumter Community College with a degree in business. She later obtained an additional degree in graphic design. Jean went on to establish a career as an administrative assistant, grant writer and humanitarian coordinator. She worked for the Lower Bucks Family YMCA for more than 30 years, and after retiring in 2014, she worked for the 21st Century Grant for the next 10 years.

Jean’s passion was doing humanitarian work for the Lower Bucks County Community, particularly the Giving Tree at Christmas, which she founded and implemented for more than 20 years. She helped so many people in need and was loved and cherished by those she touched. She had so many loving friends who were by her side through every stage in her life, and the family is eternally grateful for them. Jean also very much enjoyed attending Christian United Church and family gatherings.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents.

Jean is survived by her children, Tracy McCann (Jim) and Erin McElroy (Tim); her grandchildren, Shannon Wunder, Lyndsey Ashwell, Miranda McElroy and Jack Walsh; her great-grandchildren, Zackary Wunder and Bailey Wunder; her twin sister, Jane DuBose Hart; her brother Daniel Theodore DuBose III; and all of the extended family and friends who loved and cherished her throughout her life.
A memorial service for Jean will be held Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 1 to 2 p.m. at United Christian Church, 8525 New Falls Road, Levittown, PA 19054, followed by a visitation from 2 to 3 p.m.
