UPDATE: Coroner IDs driver in tractor trailer fatal wreck on I-95 near Clarendon

South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle wreck involving a tractor trailer.

According to Master Trooper William Bennett, at about 4:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15, the driver of a Freightliner tractor trailer was driving north on Interstate 95 near the 100-mile marker. The driver then ran off the roadway to the left and struck a guard rail before coming to a stop in the southbound lane.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Clarendon County Coroner Jacqueline Blackwell identified the driver as Ernie Lee Calloway Jr, 38, of Summerton. 

Next of kin has been notified and an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 17.

An investigation is ongoing by South Carolina Highway Patrol.
