Christopher Burgess, 35, died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004, on Middleton Road.
Mr. Burgess was born in Manhattan, N.Y., on May 12, 1969. He is the son of Maenard Burgess, Sr. and Christine McCullum Burgess.
Christopher attended PS146 Elementary School. After moving to Sumter, he attended and graduated from Sumter High School, to later start a career in Industrial and Construction. He was a very outgoing, vibrant individual, who kept a smile on his face. He was a faithful member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors besides his parents, include a son, Jericho Jackson; four brothers, Michael Leon McCullum, Maenard Burgess, Jr., Robbie (Kim) Burgess and Jeffrey J. Burgess, all of Sumter; two uncles, Jimmy Bostic and Raymond Bostic, both of Sumter; one neice Shaneequah Johnson; two aunts, Gail Washington of Sumter and Sherell Summers of Charlotte, N.C.; one grand-uncle, George Willis and one grand-aunt, Georgianna Willis, both of Bridgeport, Conn.; two great-aunts, Louise Capers and Emmaline McCullum, both of Sumter; four special cousins, Robert (Bobby) Willis, Anthony Willis, Regina Bostic and Latisha Bostic; a special friend, Junior Dinkins; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Burgess is preceded in death by his grandparents, Lillie McCullum Bostic, Warren Burgess, Sr. and Albert Bostic.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18, 2004, at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. Larry C. Weston will be officiating.
The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18, 2004.
The burial will take place at Walker Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home of his aunt, Gail Washington, 5810 Wessex Drive, Wedgefield, S.C.
