Body of man found burned in wooded area in Sumter; SLED investigating 

Sumter County Sheriff Anthony Dennis has requested SLED assist in the investigation of a body found burned in a wooded area. 

Deputies with Sumter County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of human remains in a wooded area near Cedar Avenue and Industrial Road on Saturday afternoon. 

Upon further investigation, it was confirmed the victim, a male, had been partially burned, according to Mark Bordeaux, public information officer for the sheriff’s office. 

SLED is assisting with the investigation.
