Annual Barbecue Cook-Off was a success in Sumter

The Boy Scouts of America 12th-annual Barbecue Cook-Off was a success at Sumter County Fairgrounds this past weekend.

The annual cook-off allowed community members to come and support the BSA Henry Shelor District, which includes Sumter, Clarendon and Lee counties, while enjoying live entertainment from Melton Moon and Badwater on Saturday. Nineteen teams competed on Saturday, and Tail-Gater Hater would take home first place for Best Ribs and Best Barbecue Butts. The remaining teams, in order of where they placed, included Upstate Smokeshop, Backwoods Bar-B-Que, Blazin' Bullets Barbeque, Slinging Meat, FFITS BBQ, Smokin' Hot Butts, Twister BBQ, Monkey Bottom Boys, Big Butts BBQ Gang, PaPa D's BBQ, J. L. Wilson BBQ, Big Bear's BBQ, Fu Man Que, Downtuned BBQ, Feisty Pig BBQ, McFadden BBQ AKA Mac Attack, JD's Grilling and Not Yet Famous.
