4 arrested in connection to drug bust

Complaints of drugs and other illicit activity at a Jasmine Street residence netted four arrests and the seizure of various drugs, including heroin and cocaine, and firearms.
The Sumter Police Department’s Organized Crime and Vice Unit served warrants in the 100 block of Jasmine St., where purchases of pills and heroin were made during the course of the investigation.
Wednesday morning, detectives found heroin, Schedule II and IV prescription pills, cocaine, crack cocaine and marijuana, valued at a total of $2,000. Two firearms and $2,000 in cash also were found.
Four individuals were at the home when the warrant was served.
Syvero Durron Patterson, 48, of 9 Woodland Court, faces four counts of controlled substances — Schedules II and IV, trafficking in heroin, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and felon in possession of a firearm. Several distribution of heroin charges also are being filed based on previous drug buys made at the home during the investigation.
Amanda Lynn Grant, 37, of 2720 Genoa Drive, Dalzell; Marian Lorraine Newman, 24, of 112 Mood Ave.; and Rachell Lee White, 37, of 39 Barnette Drive, are each charged with simple possession of marijuana.
Only Patterson remains in the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center pending bond.
The investigation is ongoing.
