William Pinkney Anderson Sr., 82, husband of Shirley Lowder Anderson, died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2023, at Prisma Health Tuomey in Sumter.

Born Jan. 15, 1941, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Walter T. Anderson and Marie Windham McLeod. Mr. Anderson retired from Campbell's Soup Co. and worked later as an auto mechanic. He enjoyed westerns, NASCAR and watching his "Boys" race.

Survivors include four children, William Anderson Jr. (Lazette), Gregg A. Anderson (Cindy), Walter E. Anderson (Sara) and Kimberly Jolly (Doc), all of Sumter; a stepson, Allen Lowder (Candy) of Elgin; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Bobby Anderson Sr. of Sumter; one sister, Sandra Lynch (Manley) of Sumter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Christopher Anderson and Cathy Griffin; and two brothers, Joey Anderson Sr. and Ronnie Anderson Sr.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel officiated by the Rev. Michael Bowman and the Rev. Jimmy Holley. Burial will be in the Anderson Cemetery in Timmonsville.

Pallbearers will be Joey Anderson, Ronnie Anderson Jr., Trey Anderson, Robbie Anderson, Allen Anderson and Ronnie Robertson.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
