Mr. Wiley Skipper (Skip) Lowder Jr., of Senatobia, formerly of Sumter, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, while surrounded by his loving family.

Skip spent most of his life as a farmer on his family farm in South Carolina before meeting the love of his life, Patricia, and relocating to Senatobia, Mississippi. Skip proudly attended the University of South Carolina at Sumter. Following his move to Mississippi, he returned to college to further his education at Northwest Mississippi Community College before earning his bachelor's degree from The University of Mississippi. He later began a new career, alongside his family, as a funeral director with Ray-Nowell Funeral Homes. Skip remained a life-long member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Sumter. He never met a stranger and became a friend to everyone he crossed paths with. He was a devoted husband, son, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 25 1/2 years, Patricia Ward Lowder of Senatobia, Mississippi; his sons, Wiley Skipper (Trip) Lowder III of Sardis, Mississippi; Patrick Davis (Maria) of Hoover, Alabama, Terrell Davis (Jennifer) of Senatobia, Mississippi, and Oakland, Tennessee, and Robert Davis of Senatobia, Mississippi; his sisters, Debbie Lowder Ehlers of Sumter, Maryanne Lowder of Sumter and Marty Sturgeon (Bobby) of Sumter; his brothers, Bobby Lowder of Sumter and Tom Lowder (Angie) of Tupelo, Mississippi; his grandchildren, Abbey Davis Smith (Garrett) of Coldwater, Mississippi, Anna-Lauren Davis of Oxford, Mississippi, and Patrick Truett Davis of Hoover, Alabama; his nephew, Zac Ehlers; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Skip was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley Skipper Lowder and Burnell Burns Lowder Wood; and his brother, Scott Lowder.

A private family service will be held a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Bethel United Methodist Church, 5575 Lodebar Rd., Sumter, SC 29153, or to Smile Train, P.O. Box 9231, Washington, DC 20090-6231, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
