Sumter United Ministries needs volunteers for the Lighthouse Grill next week at the Sumter County Fair.

The Lighthouse Grill is hosted every year at the fair, and while the pandemic prevented them from opening in 2020, the ministry is back this year and ready to serve.

"It is the only fundraiser we do at the ministry, and it's a whole lot of fun," Secretary Kathy Hunter said.

Sumter United Ministries is a faith-based nonprofit that offers emergency and life rebuilding services, such as food, shelter, clothing, a medical clinic, education assistance and access to heat and home improvement projects.

At least six people per shift are needed to serve as waiters, waitresses and kitchen staff. The shifts are:

- Wednesday, Oct. 20, from 7:30-10 p.m.;

- Thursday, Oct. 21, from 4:30-8 p.m.;

- Friday, Oct. 22, from 4:30-8 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.-closing; and

- Saturday, Oct. 23, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., 2-5 p.m. and 5-8 p.m.

Financial donations are also helpful to offset the cost of the items needed to operate the grill.

If you would like to reserve a shift for yourself, your church or your group, contact Hunter at (803) 775-0757.
