For Sumter School District parents and families who want more information on their child’s bus route and bus number for the new school year, the district’s transportation team will host information sessions this week.

There will be a bus information session in each of the local district’s three major bus areas, and a district spokeswoman provided the dates and times recently to The Sumter Item.

The three area information sessions’ dates and associated schools for each session are the following:

  • Monday, July 27, 5 to 7 p.m., Hillcrest Middle Transportation Office – High Hills Elementary, Oakland Primary, Shaw Heights Elementary, R.E. Davis College Preparatory Academy, Ebenezer Middle, Hillcrest Middle, Crestwood High and Rafting Creek Elementary.
  • Tuesday, July 28, 5 to 7 p.m., Sumter High Transportation Office – Alice Drive Elementary, Crosswell Drive Elementary, Kingsbury Elementary, Lemira Elementary, Millwood Elementary, Wilder Elementary, Willow Drive Elementary, Alice Drive Middle, Bates Middle, Chestnut Oaks Middle and Sumter High.
  • Wednesday, July 29, 5 to 7 p.m., Furman Middle School – Cherryvale Elementary, Manchester Elementary, Pocalla Springs Elementary, Furman Middle and Lakewood High.

According to district Executive Director of Communication and Community Engagement Shelly Galloway, the district’s transportation team will be available at each evening session to answer questions to help ensure students are ready to ride with confidence on the first day of school.

Regarding real-time bus transportation, district parents and guardians are also encouraged to download the MyRide K12 transportation app to track their child’s school bus.

Galloway added lots of critical information will be shared on the app for families throughout the school year.

At each session this week, the transportation team will also help families to download the app if needed.

The first day of the new school year for students in the district is Tuesday, Aug. 4.
