A Dalzell man has been accused of breaking into several Dollar General stores in Sumter.

Video surveillance at different locations on Broad Street, Lafayette Drive and Pocalla Road led officers to arrest Michael Channing Moses, 46, according to Tonyia McGirt, public information officer for the Sumter Police Department. Moses is being charged in connection to at least four break-ins at the three stores in the city between April 18 and May 5.

Moses was taken into custody when he was seen outside of a North Main Street motel late Wednesday afternoon, McGirt said. According to the police department, he was also wanted by the state Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services for reportedly violating the conditions of his release from prison.

He was charged with possession of burglary tools, financial transaction card theft and four counts of second-degree burglary.

He is being held at a state Department of Corrections facility.
