The Sumter Police Department released a sketch of a man involved in a fatal shooting Wednesday on Lewis Road as they continue their efforts in identifying the suspect.

The sketch of the man was developed based on information gathered in the case, said Tonyia McGirt, public information officer for the police department.

Officers responded to a shots fired call around 1:45 p.m. in the 1000 block of Lewis Road, where they found Tarrik Mack-Sumpter, 27, of Lewis Road, wounded in the backyard of his home. Sumpter died at the residence.

The man and a woman, whose description is not available, were seen at the time of the incident leaving the area in a light-colored vehicle on Lewis Road toward McCrays Mill Road, McGirt said.

Details in the case remain limited, but officers are continuing efforts to identify those involved and the reason for the shooting.

A cash reward may be available for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sumter Police Department at (803) 436-2700 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
