Update: This situation has been resolved, and there is no danger to the public or any charges being filed. One person died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and another was injured, according to the Sumter Police Department.
Personnel from the Sumter Police Department and Sumter County Sheriff’s Office are on scene of a reported shooting on Summit Drive.
The police department could not confirm if the scene is active or if a suspect has been detained, according to Tonyia McGirt, public information officer for the city department.
The entrance to Summit from Carter Road is currently closed.
