Sumter officers identify 2 suspects in fatal shooting; 1 remains wanted

The Sumter Police Department identified two men accused of involvement in a fatal shooting on Nov. 5, with one turning himself in and another remaining wanted.
According to Tonyia McGirt, public information officer for Sumter Police Department, warrants were issued for cousins Tykem Hickson, 26, of Rockhill, and Javonte Marquise Durant Hickson, 27, of Florence, for the suspected murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in the shooting death of Tyrone Prince.
Officers responded to shots fired call at Rolling Creek Drive after 6 p.m. on Nov. 5, where they found Prince shot outside his home, according to an incident report. He later succumbed to his injuries while being transported to an area hospital.
At the time of shooting, two men were seen running from a car parked in the driveway of the residence toward Boulevard Road.
McGirt said Tykem Hickson turned himself in to police Saturday and is being held at the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.
