Sumter man wanted for involvement in July shooting in Rembert

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man who was reportedly involved in shooting incident in Rembert in July.

Sean Gilyard, 25, of Jenkins Street, is wanted for his reported involvement in the July 20 non-fatal shooting, said said Deputy Adrienne Sarvis, public information officer for the sheriff’s office.

Warrants claim Gilyard, along with a co-defendant, shot into a blue Ford Fusion while it was occupied by two people at the intersection of U.S. 521 and Horatio-Hagood Road. The victims were shot and transported to area hospitals, where they were treated and released.

According to Sarvis, Gilyard is charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle and possession of a firearm during a violent crime.
