PINEWOOD — Stephen Carr Reynolds, 68, husband to Eva Marie Hodge Reynolds, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2024.
Born in Pinewood, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Condy Carr Reynolds and Virginia Ann McCall Reynolds.

Steve was a 1974 graduate of Wilson Hall in Sumter and a 1978 Alpha Company graduate of The Citadel. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, was a scholarship baseball player and was voted MVP during his senior year. He earned his MBA from Winthrop University. He spent most of his career in banking but particularly enjoyed his years as owner and director of Camp Arrowhead for boys in Tuxedo, North Carolina, where he influenced the lives of countless young men and boys. He enjoyed motorcycling, which led him to his work with Ride For Kids, raising money for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. He was dedicated to his church, where he served heavily on numerous boards and countless mission activities. He was an active volunteer and board member at Tracy’s Camp and was part of the Rotary Club and the End of the Road Club. He was an avid baseball player, coach and fan. Steve was a man of principles. He knew Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and had a holy reverence for God. He was grounded in his faith and held the teachings of the Bible closely and lived life by those standards. He had a great respect for John Wesley and was well versed in his history and teachings.

He was so proud of his family. Wife, Eva Marie, daughters, Rebecca and Jennifer, and most of all his five grandchildren, Elie, Lawson, Imogen, McCall and Gabe, who called him “Happy.” He was our family’s foundation. Solid in his wisdom and character. We counted on him for advice, judgment and guidance. His greatest joy was living in Pinewood and enjoying his family.

He is survived by his wife, Eva Marie Hodge Reynolds of Pinewood; two daughters, Rebecca Ann Reynolds Lobb (David) of Greenville, South Carolina, and Jennifer Marie Reynolds Parrotte (Rick) of Wilmington, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Elsbeth, Lawson, Imogen, McCall and Gabriel; sister, Diane Reynolds Richardson (Wade) of Simpsonville; brothers, Thomas McCall Reynolds (Kathy) of Greer, Phillip Emerson Reynolds (Betsy) of Summerton and Robert Warren Reynolds (Dianne) of Winston, Georgia.

Graveside services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 4, in the Reynolds Cemetery, near 6030 Nazarene Church Road in Pinewood, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Phillip Reynolds.

Honorary pallbearers will be Steve’s brothers, brother-in-law Wade Richardson, cousin Jimmy Reynolds and sons-in-law David Lobb and Rick Parrotte.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 4:30 to 6:30 at their home, 6030 Nazarene Church Road, Pinewood.
